Halloween 2015

This post is a hodge podge of various Halloween activities that the girls got to do. Halloween is my least favorite holiday. I am not a big fan of the kids getting all hopped up on candy and the weather is always, always cold and dreary, which makes Trick or Treating not so fun. The only part I like is seeing the girls enjoy dressing up, which is pretty cute!

The week before Halloween we took the girls to our town's Truck or Treat event. There are many different trucks and police vehicles, et cetera, lined up along the lakefront. The children can get candy at each truck/car and can go inside the vehicles. Our girls don't like trucks/cars at all and didn't want to go into any of them, but they did enjoy getting candy.

Later that day we carved our pumpkins. We did this kind of late and were really trying to just get through it quickly so that we could put the girls to bed! It was a family effort to scoop out the pumpkin "guts" after Matt removed the top. Then I sketched the faces on (the girls gave me direction and told me what they wanted) and Matt quickly carved them.

On the day before Halloween, the girls went to our library's Teeny Tiny Trick or Treat program. This is the second year that we have done this. It's a fun opportunity for them to dress up, hear fun stories, sing songs and dance, and then Trick or Treat around the youth services department.

Halloween itself was a pretty relaxing day. It was Saturday, so Matt was home, and the girls didn't have their dance classes. We hung out all day and then after nap time we went to a friend's house to Trick or Treat with them. Our friends just had a brand new baby girl, and since the weather was so crummy, she and her mama had to stay inside, so it was just myself, the dads, and the little ones. The kids had a blast!

Little Hailey.

Unfortunately, the girls' costumes weren't really visible under all of their cold weather gear.
Oh well!

I let the girls have two pieces of candy each after dinner.

The loot!!!
