Savannah is 8 months old today!! She is changing so much! I haven't been updating as much as I usually do, because we are out and about enjoying summer these days. Matt is home several extra days each week during the summer, so we are soaking up our Daddy time! Here are some of the new things Savannah can do:
- She can make a "p" sound - this is her favorite consonant sound so far
- She can make "kissy" noises at you, especially if you do it first
- She can push herself around on the hardwood floor using her arms (still no crawling, though)
- She can sit for longer and longer periods
- When standing up and holding your hands, she will occasionally take a few steps. Mostly, though, she just kind of bounces around and picks her feet up and down like she's dancing
- She does a little side-to-side dance/shimmy that is so cute!
- She has slept 13 hours straight a few different times. I was hoping she would make this a regular habit, but lately she has been getting up at 5 again (11 hours) for a feeding
- She decided she was done with nursing and now is taking formula from a bottle for all of her feeds
- She can stand up at her activity table and play for a bit
- She went to the nursery at church for the first time and did great!
We've been having fun going on walks, playing at the park, visiting the petting zoo, and taking our first trip to the splash park which is at a local lakefront near our home. Savannah did her first overnight trip with us about a month ago, staying at a hotel for one night for her Auntie Lauren's wedding. We have our first two-night trip away from home this coming weekend, so wish us luck! It's getting easier to take her places, but she is still a very routined child - she loves her sleep, and while she can handle her schedule getting thrown a bit, we always pay for it the next day with naptime troubles and bedtime meltdowns. I'm trying to keep her on her schedule as much as we can this summer, while still trying to enjoy the beautiful weather.
I can NOT believe that she is 8 months old - these have been the fastest 8 months of my life! It occured to me the other day that I should start planning her first birthday - I can't even stand to think about it! My baby is growing SO SO fast. Although it's bittersweet to watch her grow, it is so much fun to think about the little person she is becoming!
Happy 8 months, my sweet girl!
